Bill Digest

Staff Note: This bill takes sex education out of the hands of local school boards and parents. "Medical Accuracy" is really about controlling the content of abstinence education materials. If unchecked, this bill will eliminate "abstinence until marriage" education because it will eliminate funding on both the federal and state levels. The results will be loss of parental control or input on curriculum.

I noticed that the March 9 Bill Digest for Bill SB 5297 includes the line "and includes information about astinence and other methods of preventing unintended pregnancy . . ." To me, it looks like absintance is included in the curriculum.
