We have heard the media, the gay activists and the liberal, secularist legislators tell us that HB2661 is not about gay marriage. It is about civil rights. It’s about decency and tolerance. But not about gay marriage. The legislators who approved HB2661 even assured us that they had written into the bill words that said it was not about gay marriage.
But it is. We have been saying that all along. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.
Yesterday, our Field Director, Jon Russell, forwarded an email to me sent out by Equal Rights Washington; the organization that is committed to gay marriage in Washington State. While the email was soliciting testimonials to support gay marriage at the recommendation of “many legislators,” the rest of the message was very telling.
It said, “Thank you to the over 1000 ERW [Equal Rights Washington] advocates who have endorsed the Washington Won’t Discriminate Campaign in the Past 72 Hours.”
Now Washington Won’t Discriminate is the organization that committed to blocking Referendum 65 and the work of Faith & Freedom and others in the faith community. They are supposed to be about civil rights. Equal Rights Washington is about gay marriage.
So, ERW is encouraging its followers to support Washington Won’t Discriminate.
But, wait. There’s more. The solicitation goes on to say, “ERW is committed to making sure that WWD is the strongest campaign possible. We have lent our Political Director, John Vezina, to head the campaign of which we are (sic) a founding and principle member.”
After all the denial by gay activists and secularist legislators alike, we now find that not only is there linkage between the gay marriage people and the Stop Referendum 65 (so-called civil rights) people but the gay marriage people are a “founding and principle member” of the Stop Referendum 65 movement.
House Bill 2661 is an incremental step toward gay marriage. They are using Massachusetts as a model and will not be satisfied until they have redefined marriage and the family and re-written sex education in public schools, normalizing that which is abnormal and perverted.
This battle is real. And it has real consequences. May I ask 1000 of you who oppose gay marriage and support our efforts to go immediately to our Pay Pal account and make the most generous contribution you can make. Or simply mail us a check today. We need your help.
Philip Irvin, a Seattle City Light employee, has recently shared this experience with us here at Faith & Freedom. Keep in mind this happened before the passage of HB2661.
Philip Irvin in his own words:
EEO Complaint against Philip Irvin
This complaint and its investigation demonstrate again how one-sided “sexual orientation” discrimination rules are and will be enforced.
Seattle City Light (SCL) invited its employees to participate in the Gay Pride Parade. Irvin responded to the participants with the attached e-mail. He noted that the parade was a political event and that discrimination laws prohibit SCL from choosing which event it participates in based on the political ideology of the event. He asked that, if SCL chose to have employees represent it in the Parade, he could be allowed to represent SCL at a Love Won Out seminar, noting that it “provided teaching on how to leave the gay lifestyle for those who choose to do so.” In making his request he made certain that he made no derisive comments about any other group and the e-mail only sought equal treatment to that afforded to employees who participated in the Parade.
Two employees, Edward Richards and Linda Vorhis, took offense at this e-mail and filed an EEO complaint noting that it was “demeaning” and “anti-gay in nature” and a violation of the requirement that employees exhibit “mutual respect.”
Before consenting to investigate a complaint the EEO office will ask, “If the allegations are all true, has a violation taken place?” If not, the case heads to the waste bin. Then if, after interviewing the complainants, the investigator finds no violation the case would be closed; there would be no point in interviewing the accused. That didn’t happen here either. It appears that the investigator is poised to rule against Irvin.
How has his treatment differed from the actions of SCL? SCL invited employees to represent it at a Parade that features phallic symbols, indecent exposure, and overt sexual themes with entrants from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to the Masturbation Militia. Indeed, just an invitation to march in the Parade is degrading and constitutes sexual harassment. But while SCL invited employee participation, Irvin did not and only chose to attend himself-but with the same recognition afforded parade participants. He even made it clear that the theme of Love Won Out was not for all gays but only those who chose to.
This is a very useful case to expose the hypocrisy of the gay community and their supporters. The sole basis for the complaint is contained in its entirety in a single e-mail—there is absolutely no dispute over Irvin’s actions and Irvin had no other contact with the complainants. Further complainant’s stated objective is to block Irvin from sending correspondence like this seeking equal treatment.
The actions of the City are clear. Not only will discrimination laws be used to deny equal treatment, they will also be used to punish and silence those who have the audacity to seek the equality that the law purports to provide.
After meeting with the EEO investigator their position was that I offended the gays and knew that I would offend the gays with a discussion about an organization such as Love Won Out. As they were not part of the discussion or action it was inappropriate for me to send the e-mail to them. I was able to get out of this situation with a mere apology to them without waiving any rights.

An email sent on May 18, 2006 from Laurie Jinkins at the Washington Department of Health with subject, “looking for some good pictures,” announced that (quote), “June is ‘Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Month.’”
Ms. Jinkins continues, “We will again host displays on the subject throughout the Tumwater and Kent campus. Last year, this display created some controversy and a level of anxiety that we hope will be avoided this time around. The agency fully supports this display and celebration, as well as the legislation prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation (ESHB2661) signed into law this past legislative session by Governor Gregoire.”
One has to ask, “Should the Washington Department of Health be promoting and celebrating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning month?”
But then, if HB2661 is left to become law, I would be discriminating to ask the question. In fact, I could be, under HB2661, held to be discriminating to even “think” the question.
Please sign a Referendum 65 petition form. Click here to download your copy. We only have until June 7, 2006. Also, call the Washington Department of health in Olympia, 360-236-4600, and tell them you object to what they are doing.

Representative Ed Murray, a Seattle Democrat who is one of a handful of openly gay legislators, told the Seattle P.I. this past weekend that he was not surprised Tim Eyman was working with the religious right on Referendum 65.
He said, “My assumption all along is that Tim Eyman, who has tried to portray himself as this anti-taxtarian, is actually part of the religious right and is showing his right-wing religious connections to try to repeal the civil rights bill [HB 2661].”
It seems that anyone who gets in the way of the gay agenda is attacked and labeled. Sometimes they are even called, “religious right.”
The duplicity and divisiveness of these folks is almost unbelievable.
Ann Levinson, chairwoman for Washington Won’t Discriminate said, “We know that the overwhelming majority of people are opposed to discrimination but during these campaigns [Ref. 65], the rhetoric from the other side is often intended to confuse voters.”
That reminds me of the Genesis account of Adam and Eve being told that if they would eat the fruit, they would be like God.
The passage of HB2661 is not primarily about discrimination against homosexuals. It is part of a systematic effort to incrementally normalize homosexuality and take us yet one more step toward same-sex marriage.
This bill was written to advance the gay agenda by not just normalizing homosexuality, but under the guise of non-discrimination, force our children through public sponsored sex-education that homosexuality is a “normal” lifestyle and should be explored as a possible lifestyle.
And it has the effect of silencing Christian pastors and teachers from speaking out against the Biblical position that homosexuality is sin for fear of being charged with discrimination under this new law.
This bill, HB 2661, is predatory. Those who are advancing it are presenting themselves as reasonable, common sense, live-and-let-live people while doing everything in their power to redefine marriage, the family, and censor Biblical teaching on homosexuality. Left to their devises, they will re-educate your children and redefine our social order as we have know it.
If you have not signed a Referendum 65 petition, please do so immediately. If you have, please forward this blog to others and encourage them to sign.

I want to share this timely article written by Frank Carpenter, Faith & Freedom Chaplain to the Oregon Legislature, Frank Carpenter. Frank regularly writes for Faith & Freedom. His articles can be found on the Oregon Chaplain's page at: http://faithandfreedom.us/or_chaplain.html.
I am compelled to write this special report to all friends of the Legislative Chaplain Ministry. This is a warning to all who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and to all who walk with Him and love Him.
Stay away from "The Da Vinci Code" whether it be the Book or the Movie.
I have not read the Book. I have not seen the movie. Nor will I read it or see this despicable work. I fail to understand why two of Hollywood’s better representatives Ron Howard and Tom Hanks participated in the advancement of this significantly damaging effort to attack the Christian faith. I know it is presented as fiction, but why then are so many falling for the ridiculous teachings of this attack on Christ.
The May 20 th Edition of World Magazine summarizes the thrust of the story as follows: During the course of solving a murder in the Louvre, a discovery is made that shows Christianity is really a monumental fraud. The Holy Grail, the chalice that contained the blood of Jesus is really a person, the physical descendants of Jesus. Jesus is really the founder of an occult religion that worshipped the "Sacred Femine", and when Jesus died his successor was his wife, Mary Magdalene and their daughter and subsequent holy grails.
It is not innocent entertainment. It is blasphemes against our Savior, it is nothing but a lie attacking the Divine Nature of Christ. We know who the father of lies is, and this is his work and his effort to weaken the church, and weaken the faith of thousands, and to prevent thousands of others to ever come to faith in Christ.
If the Da Vinci Code is true, then the Scriptures in there entirety are false. If the Scriptures are false then our faith is null and void, and we are all captives of our sin and have no hope of forgiveness or eternal life and our destiny lies with the arch enemy of God.
When asked by a friend if I was going to see the movie, I emphatically said no. I said there is too much truth that I have not yet discovered, why waist my time with falsehood and error. Some say we should see it so that we can combat it as we defend our faith. If this logic is good strategy then we all should try drugs etc in order to better help those who are caught in this awful trap.
Today I heard a spokesman for the National Council of Churches respond to the question, "What would Jesus do?" He answered, he would pick up His twelve friends buy them each a ticket and a bag of popcorn, watch the movie with them and laugh. NEVER!! There is nothing funny about portraying Jesus as a mere man! Obviously our friend from the NCC doesn’t know the same Jesus we know. He would respond as He did with the money changers and to the Pharisees and Hypocrites with great righteous anger.
The Scriptures are faithful and true, and Jesus is the Risen Savior, The Son of God and the Son of Man.
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; (17) so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." 2 Tim 3:16,17, NASU
"I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; (19) and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. (20) He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. Rev 22:18,20, NASU
I listened carefully to the President’s speech last night. I like the President, voted for him twice and would again; however, I have questioned what our policy actually is regarding our borders and immigration. I believe the President made a good start in addressing the issue and hope he will carry through with his plan.
One thing that struck me was that he mentioned, three times, the importance of the English language in a successful immigration policy.
Having traveled extensively in Latin and Central America, living with missionaries and local pastors, I have seen the devastating effect multi-language can have on the development of any country. Guatemala comes to mind. With nearly 100 dialects in the country, Guatemala has languished socially for generations.
Rios Mott, former President of Guatemala and friend, once told me if they could solve the language problem, they could effectively address all the other problems in the country.
Yet, there are special interest groups who have been lobbying for years to undermine English as our national language. They have been using the power and money of government and the public schools to achieve their goals. And it continues to this moment. In fact, there is a move to label it “work place” discrimination for employees to be required to speak English on the job and to customers.
Much has been said and written on this issue.
Winston Churchill once said, “This gift of a common tongue is a priceless inheritance.”
President Bush, President Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, our Founders and many others of us along the way recognize the importance of language.
America is not bound by bloodlines or land, but rather by hope and a vision for our future. And our language is fundamental to our national identity and to our destiny.
Perhaps there will be a time again when it will be unnecessary to “press one” for English.
Several years ago, Phyllis Schlafly wrote an outstanding article on the subject. To read her report, click here.

Check this out! A Grays Harbor College (Aberdeen, WA) student senator who voted against the charter for a new gay-straight student alliance is being ridiculed by fellow students. Some members of the student body believe she should be censured or lose her senate seat because she believes being gay is “bad behavior.”
Amanda Plumb, a Christian and student leader, simply felt she could not vote in favor of the club for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender and straight students.
Now there is a rush to file formal complaints against her while, “anonymous” people are posting the college’s internet message board calling her a “radical Christian fundamentalist”, “pathetic,” “racist,” and someone with a “demented imagination.”
One “anonymous” poster wrote, “Can we write her out?”
Student body president Shawn Stanley has created a special panel of students to see if she violated college policies because she said she voted “no” for moral reasons.
The folks who lecture so often and so loud on tolerance are finding it much harder to practice than to preach.
The gay rights movement is not a passive, live-and-let-live movement, as they would like you to believe. They are militant in their approach and are determined to redesign society.
If you have time, I suggest you read the complete news article from Grays Harbor. Click here for article.

This morning a number of leaders from around the nation met with President Bush at the White House for the National Day of Prayer. Among them was Dr. Joseph B. Fuiten, Chairman of the Board of Faith & Freedom Network and Foundation.
President Bush spoke about the important role that prayer has played in our nation's history and in his personal life. He said, “Prayer is a gift from Almighty God that transforms us, whether we bow our heads in solitude, or offer swift and silent prayers in times of trial. Prayer humbles us by reminding us of our place in creation. Prayer strengthens us by reminding us that God loves and cares for each and every soul in His creation. And prayer blesses us by reminding us that there is a divine plan that stands above all human plans.”
Dr. Fuiten said he was deeply touched by the President's reminder that our ability to communicate directly with our Heavenly Father is a gift from Him, a gift given to us through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Please join our President, those of us at Faith & Freedom, and millions of people of faith across our great land in prayer for our nation and our leaders.
Those of you living in Washington State, I’m sure you have seen the newspaper articles quoting Tim Eyman regarding Referendum 65.
We are running way behind where we should be in numbers of names gathered on the petition forms.
Frankly, I was surprised when I read the newspaper. Having spoken to thousands of people across Washington State who feel very strongly about the special rights for gays issue, I thought there would have been more names turned in by now.
Please make every effort to get your petition forms completed and mailed in. There is still time to get more forms and circulate them, but we must move quickly.
