Good Things Are Starting To Happen

A good deal has been written regarding the Judiciary Committee. Although Arlen Specter has backed way off his initial warning to President Bush regarding the nomination of conservative judges, I still don’t think he should chair that committee.

However, good things are starting to happen – all because of the “values vote in November. Two Prolife Senators have been named to the Judiciary Committee. Senate Republican leaders have chosen two passionate conservative Prolife lawmakers to serve. Senator Sam Brownback, R-Kan, and Senator-elect Tom Coburn, R-Okla.

Charles Hunt, a reporter for the Washington Times, said that Tom Coburn reminds him of a younger version of Jesse Helms.

Brownback has led in many issues regarding Prolife issues. Coburn is absolutely not afraid to take a conservative stand. That’s great news.

Both of these men are deeply committed to the Biblical principles upon which America was founded.

I am reminded of John Witherspoon words spoken in the early years of our nation: “It is the man of piety and inward principle, that we may expect to find the uncorrupted patriot, the useful citizen, and the invincible soldier – God grant that in America true religion and civil liberty may be inseparable, and that the unjust attempts to destroy the one, may in the issue tend to support and establishment of both.

As judicial nominations, quite possible Supreme Court nominees come before the committee, I’m sure John Witherspoon’s words and prayers will be honored and realized.

May God bless America in this coming new year.
