Faith & Freedom Network Blog: Shirley Dobson Dismissed from Lawsuit

Shirley Dobson Dismissed from Lawsuit

Last week a federal judge dismissed all claims against Shirley Dobson, wife of James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, in a lawsuit challenging the National Day of Prayer Task Force.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation, the atheist group who placed the anti-God plaque in the Capitol in Olympia a couple of Christmas' ago and a few months ago held their national convention in Seattle, has filed a suit arguing that the National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional.

Joel Oster with Alliance Defense Fund said, "The lawsuit against Mrs. Dobson was based on the ridiculous argument that a private citizen can violate the law by praying, and it is just another example of one radical organization's allergic reaction to anything involving God."

The FFRF argues that the Constitution was "written to be a god-less document" and they are challenging the federal law designating a National Day of Prayer and requiring a National Day of Prayer Proclamation by the President.

The President is named in the suit as well. The case against the President is still ongoing, however, the court has said that it cannot stop future presidential prayer proclamations from being issued.

I sincerely hope the President does not use this suit as an excuse to further distance himself from scheduled prayer events in the future.

Shirley Dobson, as you likely know, is the chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, which was founded to express the Judeo-Christian view.

The National Day of Prayer for this year is scheduled for May 6, 2010.

Be Prayerful. Be Active.

These atheists need to read their constitution again. The Constitution guarantees freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

Thank God that the court got it right this time. God bless Dr. and Shirley Dobson, and I hope Mrs. Dobson has renewed vigor to support the National Day of Prayer as never before.

It sounds like this group is strengthening all the evidence against itself. Such are the oppositions of men who oppose
the purpose driven life God calls
men to.

To whatever extent we fail to honor God we dishonor ourselves.

The gift of repentance waits for those who have never tasted the grace of God which is in Jesus,
a gift we will not loose if we keep our eyes on Jesus and the cross. We don't know how much time is left.

Psalm 23:5,6
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The Constitution now deemed a "Godless document"? That's almost laughable, it if wasn't such a sad ignorant statement. What a bunch of ignorant fools that comprise the FFR. Sorry, but I just call it like I see it.

If FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIANITY became the state religion then
the state would determine who was first class citizens and second class citizens. This why we have the separation of church and state in the constitution.

If Atheists gained control of the state then Christians would become second class citizens.

If Christians gained control then
Atheists and Christians denominations that didn't have state approval would become second class citizen.
The separation of church and state in the constitution prevent this from happening.

Thought there is no seperation of church and state?! The constitution states that churches are protected from the government, and the goverment would not interfere, as was done in England, thus the reason the pilgrems came here for freedom of religion, and should remain so--keep our freedom of religion!
