Faith & Freedom Network Blog: Congressman Takes On Planned Parenthood

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Congressman Takes On Planned Parenthood

In the past two years Planned Parenthood has received $350 million in taxpayer funding.

That taxpayer support goes to the nonprofit organization which reports a significant profit each year and annual revenues in excess of $1 Billion dollars.

Now a pro-life Congressman is attempting to de-fund Planned Parenthood.

Mike Pence, R-Indiana, has drafted an amendment to de-fund Planned Parenthood. He has attached it to a Department of Health and Human Services funding bill, that in part, throws federal tax dollars toward Planned Parenthood.

ONENEWSNOW reports that abortions are on the rise again and about 1 in 5 are preformed in Planned Parenthood clinics.

The "Susan B. Anthony List" organization is heading up an effort to contact members of the House of Representatives and urge them to vote for the Mike Pence amendment to de-fund Planned Parenthood. You may go the Anthony website or you may click on this website for contact information for communicating with your representative.

Years ago, when my girl friend and I were 18, we couldn't afford to see a regular doctor for reliable birth control.

Thankfully, Planned Parenthood filled that gap for us.

Because of Planned Parenthood, we had no unwanted pregnancy that likely would have ended in abortion. This is what Planned Parenthood primarily does.

Cutting funding for this organization would be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I will support any effort to take away funding for Planned Parenthood. They are the biggest single advocate and practioner of abortion in the country. They live off death.

11:15 apparently you don't realize how most of us in here have a belief of waiting until one is married. Thus, no need fot this 'pill!' besides, it's to kill babies before they have chance to live--shudder!

1:06am Good for you. And I'm sure this works well for 'most' of you. The rest of us have to find real world solutions to avoiding unwanted pregnancies. Planned Parenthood does this very well. If you're serious about reducing abortions - sex education and birth control are quite effective for the long term. Abstinence only works well until, well, you know.

What exactly do you mean by "defunding"? What exatly are our tax dollars trying to accomplish here?

Abortion is child abuse. It adds up to one dead and one wounded.
That's what I've heard people say
and it's true.

Did John McCain ever look better to America than the time he answered questions before the church at Saddleback?

Shouldn't the large churches be inviting the president to answer questions that are of a moral nature, such as abortion, homosexuality, pornography, adult entertainment and gambling, and
let the church ask the questions.

With the support of the church a
politician can look quite good, but his answers have to be good also.

Here are a few questions I have.

1. Can America expect God's blessings on it because of it's allowing the practice of abortion,
and if so, how so?

2. Does allowing abortion teach us well the value of life, and if so, how?

3. Does the practice of abortion show the world the integrity of American ideals such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
for all, without preference?

4. Will a man stand better before God at the end of his life if he
could have worked more to put an end to abortion, or worked to promote it?

I wonder how the election would have turned out if John McCain would have said to himself, "You know, I'm thinking that America could do better if we corrected ourself from some of our vices. I would need the support of all the churches in America to make a change on abortion, the homosexual
agenda, pornography and anything else that is contrary to God. Maybe together we could make a difference. Maybe instead of visiting America and expecting them to come to me, maybe I should
go to some of their churches and ask them to help support some of the things I want to see change in order to gain God's favor, and
I could hear from them and some of the things that concern them. Maybe I could gain some things from their spiritual perspective.
Maybe it's time for a spiritual awakening in this country."

I'm sure there are others as well who would like to see a change of direction in America. This nation wasn't founded on the agenda of one man but on certain ideals that came from godly men which they received from God.

Proverbs 19:21
There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of
the Lord, that shall stand.

11.15 Too bad you were not taught 'morality' as my children were taught. One can have a teen type relations, and enjoy each other, without sex, duh!

12:58 It's interesting that you feel compelled to judge my morality. If there is a God, it will be the ultimate judge of my morality and I feel pretty good about my record. You see, I think morality is a higher calling than beating down the gays.

Oh, and by the way, I could also eat french fries without ketchup. But they are so much better with it.

Abortion is simply the result of the selfishness of this generation. Children are the ones that pay the ultimate price, their life. Promoters are those that refuse to encourage responsible behavior for a myriad of reasons, mostly financial. Until we as a nation determine to live responsible lives we will continue to have this ugliness to deal with that we are told is a constitution, which it is not.
