Law Passed In Colorado Could Ban Bible Distribution
A legal team has concluded that a recent anti-discrimination law passed in Colorado could ban the distribution of the Bible in that state.
The law, S.B. 200, bans the distribution of any written material that discriminates based on "sexual orientation".
According to the law, that includes, "...any communication, paper, poster, folder, manuscript, book, pamphlet, writing, print, letter, notice, or advertisement of any kind, nature, or description which is intended or calculated to discriminate or actually discriminates..."
Matthew Staver, Founder and President of Liberty Counsel, and his team is preparing to file a lawsuit to block this new legislation, which they say is outrageous.
I agree. If homosexuals will file a frivolous lawsuit against Christian book publishers, more sophisticated activist homosexuals will surely seek to stop Bible distribution, because under this law, the Bible could be seen by a court as indeed discriminatory toward homosexuality. The Bible calls it sin and forbids it.
If the homosexual agenda is not restrained, we will soon see the biblical model of marriage dishonored and any beliefs that oppose their lifestyle criminalized.
Is there not a cause?
We know there is. Hopefully we also know that this is a time for people of faith and conservatives to stand and be counted.

Ha! All they are doing is adding sexual orientation to their already existing civil rights statutes. "A legal team" with the brains of a rock would realize that the Bible, which contains sexist, ethnic, and theocratic passages, would already be 'banned' if the law in fact did what you are pretending it does.
More deceit and faux-victim posturing by people that have nothing to do with what most people consider to be Christianity.
Again, all this bill does is add sexual orientation to their already existing civil rights statute which would already 'ban the Bible' as written if that was indeed the case which 'a legal team' would point out if they had a whit of honesty any where in their bodies.
If there is a hell this blog will surely lead you there at a stunning pace.
Discriminate and decide share the same root word. Every decision we make discrimantes. If discrimination is prohibited there will be no decisions left for us to make.
Freedom will be dead.
The constitution states; "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press,; or the right of the people peaceable to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
One would think that such language in the highest law of the land would protect us from such excesses.
NO SO. When we have a "living Constitution" nothing is safe.
If congress were to pass a law prohibiting prayer in school would it not violate that part of the first amendment that reads; "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."?
Of course it would. Only a liberal judge could turn that into "Thou shalt not pray..."
Rise up and support righteousness or drown in a moral sewer. The choice is ours.

The law in question covers discrimination on religion as well as "sexual orientation". Gee, I wonder why Gary wouldn't include the full details in his post? Heck he could have qouted the entire sentence of the law, rather than just a section, but then it would be obvious he was misrepresenting it.
"24-34-701. Publishing of discriminative matter forbidden. No

So, freedom of speech is no longer? Wierd.
So, freedom of speech is no longer? Weird.
Not at all, read the message above yours - this is about publications by "the owner, lessee, proprietor, manager, superintendent, agent, or employee of any place of public accommodation, resort, or amusement,"
And only about those publications that 'THAT is intended or calculated to discriminate or actually discriminates"
This is so you can be cited for putting up a sign that says 'No Jews Allowed in this Establishment' for example in and of itself and it not having to be proven that you actually did turn away someone. You could put up a sign that says 'I think Jews smell' or 'I think Jews are going to burn in Hell' because those statements are not calls to discriminate.
Once again, faux-victimization, as per usual around here.
Apperently the two posters who think religion is also protected are willfuly ignorant of a couple of facts.
In Canada there is a pastor in jail for preaching in a pulpit on Sunday that homosexuallity is a sin. I have read that Brazil is or has passed laws simular to Canada that will allow for the arest of clergy who take a biblical stance. I have not confermed that but it is distressing if true.
The day will come, and from the blissful ignorance of the two posters, I would say soon in which Christianity will be defined as a Hate activity and we will all be arested.
In Canada there is a pastor in jail for preaching in a pulpit on Sunday that homosexuallity is a sin.
Wouldn't happen to have a name to go along with that would you? Oddly even the hate sites don't seem to have anything on this...
Or is it just gossip and lies?
So in fact, the law does prevent freedom of speech by a proprietor who would like to prevent behavior he/she would rather not have in their business.
Fantastic.
I thought anonymous notes were not allowed anymore?
Seriously, since all civil rights legislation, state and federal, prohibits this kind behavior by those choosing to run public accommodations its odd you were so unaware of it that you thought it was 'weird'. All the Colorado law does is explicitly state that printed versions are proscribed too.
And, of course, the owner has total freedom of speech about this issue when not running this public accommodation.
"the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal has forbidden evangelical pastor Stephen Boisson from expressing his moral opposition to homosexuality. The tribunal also ordered Boisson to pay $5,000 “damages for pain and suffering” and apologize to the “human rights” activist who filed the complaint." Not sure if hyper links work here but google will find it, as well as stuff on a Swedish pastor in much the same boat. That particular quoat is from the catholicexchange.com by Pete Vere June 9th 2008
Democrats wish to have America imitate Canadian healthcare. Coming soon to America as well is pastors in prison for preaching homosexuality is a sin.
Hmm I do apear to have made one mistake in a prior post. I thought the pastor involved in Canada had said what he said in a Church service. That is not the case. The issue apears to be over a letter to the editor of a paper or online publication.
That admission out of the way though I still think it is a violation of free speach and will still be used as a model here in the states before long.
Ah so it wasn't a pulpit and it wasn't jail. Would it surprise you to find out it wasn't because of him 'expressing a moral oppisition to homosexuality' too?
I think its pretty obvious you haven't even bothered to read the letter he actually wrote in 2002, one without a single scriptural reference, and said things like:
"Come on people, wake up! It's time to stand together and take whatever steps are necessary" and ended with
"It's time to start taking back what the enemy has taken from you. The safety and future of our children is at stake."
I reads like the kind of stuff you'd expect the KKK to spew if a black family moved into town. A diatribe of hatred that had little religious about it even though it was written by a 'reverend'.
This is the danger of depending on hate sites for your information - they never want to 'burden' you with the facts since their readers are more easily manipulated by hyperbole, innuendo, and outright lies.
The reality is that his letter was not religious and his calls to 'action' could reasonable be considered calls to violence - something that Canada doesn't allow. A complaint was filed to the Rights Commission (oh and they can't send someone to 'jail' regardless of how they rule.)
And it might surprise you to know that many gay groups have supported his right to spew this bile regardless. Canada is still in the process of deciding how overt such violent messages have to be to be illegal. This case will help decide those limits and what the commissions can reasonably do to curtail them when they occur.
Not nearly as exciting as the liars you so willingly repeated wanted you to think, is it?
Did anyone notice that Gary is now predicting that traditional marriage will be "dishonored"? That's a pretty big step down from predicting its demise.
I guess he's acknowledging that traditional marriage has done just fine where ever gay marriage has been legalized.
All readers, including all Colorado officials, should Google "God to Same-Sexers: Hurry Up." But don't delay. You need to read it BEFORE God will be sending Colorado a world-class disaster it will never forget. Jon
