Democrats Everywhere: Where'd The Republicans Go?
Robert Mak, reporter for KING 5 News in Seattle, raised an interesting question last week in his article, Democrats Everywhere: Where'd The Republicans Go? He says, "It's Democrats everywhere you turn--- in the state house--- the state senate and in the governor's mansion."
Mak asks, "What's Happening".
I can tell you what's happening.
While presidential candidates are talking about change, claiming to be the candidate of change, printing signs that say "change" and finding any number of creative ways to talk about change, they are out of step with many people.
People have already changed. In fact, this has been happening for a while now.
Many of our politicians continue to carry on as though it is still yesterday. Perhaps Hillary, with her "political speech voice," best defines the past. But there is guilt on both sides and it has little to nothing to do with age. It has to do with understanding the times in which we live.
Last summer, Faith and Freedom came out with the phrase, "Change The State In '08."
What we mean is to simply change the elected officials. There are those such as Gregoire, Murray, Chopp, Lisa Brown and others who dutifully carry out the agenda of the extreme left. While some of these may represent a majority of the constituents in their district, they certainly do not represent the beliefs of a majority of Washingtonians on a number of the issues. I predict that will be affirmed with Gregoire being replaced in '08. These and others are elected to the legislature, end up in control of the legislature, and create an environment in which most, not all, but most in their party are pushed to vote for a left-wing agenda that they may or may not really believe in in their heart. While some mentioned probably cannot be removed at this time, there are those around the state that are vulnerable and can be replaced. We are working on that.
Our efforts are not partisan. They are values based. We are more concerned with principles than politics or a political party.
The simple answer to Mak's question is that the Democrats have spoken to the general issues that people care most about. But many feel they are not delivering. They say one thing during political campaigns but act very differently when it is not an election year. Republicans, in some cases, have not properly addressed the important issues and even when they have, they have still been unable or unwilling to change things.
The cultural dynamic of America has changed and the elected officials have not. The media, to a great extent, suffers from the same affliction.
For example, politicians and the media still talk about conservative red states and liberal blue states. That is yesterday. It is a myth today.
Voters are more and more moving toward issues and values, than partisanship and red or blue.
Newt Gingrich, in his just released book entitled, "Real Change," points out that American people are united on almost every important issue facing our country---including immigration, taxes, defending America and freedom of religion. The real division, he says, is between red--white---and--- blue America and a fringe on the left. I see that in Washington State. There is a majority in our legislature who represent the views of a minority of the citizens in the state.
That is why the State Legislature will often move to approve social issues and matters of taxation, while doing all they can to avoid allowing the issue to go to a vote of the people.
They are out of step.
We the people can force real change by electing officials according to where they stand on the issues, not according to their party affiliation.
We are asking people across the state to join us in a movement to bring about real change.

Where'd the Republicans go?
The Republican party has come to represent hate, fear, lies, treason, wreckless economic policy, incompetence, etc.
It's not exactly a magnet these days.
Unfortunately, I think there is even more to it than that. I'm afraid that the American public has been brainwashed. They believe that government run programs are going to save them. They believe that the media is accurately reporting things to them. They believe that the socialism being promoted by prominent political candidates is different than the communism and fascism from last century. Areas of our government are now in the hands of traitors who intend to drive this nation to ruin for their own profit. And we as Christians have been blissfully naive of the devil's schemes, and have raced to the front of the lines to become brainwashed ourselves.
There once was a time when Christians in this nation had the strength of character to take up arms and drive tyranny from our shores. What has happened to us? If you really want change in 2008 you had better do more than just put your name on a list for a political cause. The battle is not against flesh and blood, it is against principalities and strongholds over our country that need to be confronted and taken down (Ephesians 6:12).
If you hear of an injustice you should flood the phone lines of everyone concerned, and not relent until the wrong is made right. If you have money or training you should use them for the Kingdom of God. Sue the evildoers in the courts. Charge them with the treasonous acts that they are guilty of, and don't back down. Put up yard signs and bumper stickers declaring where you stand, and speak it loud in the market places and from the rooftops. Make an appearance wherever there is a demonstration for the cause of God so the world will recognize that we are not a small force that they can ignore. Declare the name of Jesus, and the advancement of the Kingdom of God in your prayers.
Revelations 12:11 - They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (NIV)
James :)
This is the problem. thank you for bringing it to us in such a womderful way. i believe God is going to do some great things this year in our state.
God is great in 08
you know folks all Republicans are not Christian conservatives, and all Democrats are not athiest liberals. however one thing we all are is Americans. yes we are all concerned about the important issues, and if our elected officials in Washington DC can't get together for the good of those who elected them. we need to get together as individuals, and erase the lines drawn by those who would demonize one party or another. pie in the sky you say? well maybe but we need to start somewhere without going into attack mode.
Gary,
You stated that you are not partisan. I am puzzled then why I hear of two groups - the Red, White and Blue Americans and the fringe left.
Surely there must be fringe right??? Otherwise, aren't you simply another partisan who is manipulating the minds of your readers by trying to incorporate the fringe right - the Ku Klux Klan, the Minutemen, the Aryan nations, etc. into the mainstream? Is that what you are trying to do?
Sincerely,
Greg
Dear Ask,
I had a couple inquiries based on your letter -
Unfortunately, I think there is even more to it than that. I'm afraid that the American public has been brainwashed.
By who? All of us? Some of us? Everyone is so different it seems - how could the brainwashing be very wide spread?
They believe that government run programs are going to save them.
I don't know who really believes this....
They believe that the media is accurately reporting things to them.
Most people are fully aware that Fox News is simply a partisan front for the hard core right wing.
They believe that the socialism being promoted by prominent political candidates is different than the communism and fascism from last century.
What is socialism? Is the military a socialist enterprise? Why not? It consumes about 1/2 of the budget if you take all the elements into account.
Areas of our government are now in the hands of traitors who intend to drive this nation to ruin for their own profit.
I assume you are speaking of the Bush, Cheney who have hidden their activities in concert with the oil companies and military-industrial complex while we have had the greatest transfer of wealth to the wealthy in the history of the nation. Could you be specific here?
And we as Christians have been blissfully naive of the devil's schemes, and have raced to the front of the lines to become brainwashed ourselves.
Exactly the point some have been making - the right wing has taken over and taken advantage of the Church of Jesus Christ.
Sincerely,
Patrick
People are finding it harder and harder to care for and support their families.
When they make fair wages and and get fair benifits that put food on their tables , roofs over their heads and clotthes on their backs then they will look at the social issues like, gay marriage , abortion ,ect.
