Planned Parenthood Botches Another Abortion

With seemingly increased regularity, Planned Parenthood continues to make the news. We see more instances of questionable activities being reported than we care to mention, however this one points out what has become a fairly consistent component in media reporting of P.P.'s activities. The press seems to predictably look for ways to take the edge off some of their problems.

This particular suit was filed a week or so ago by a 40-year-old who had a life-threatening experience in their abortion clinic.

According to the suit documents, after the woman had received an injection into her cervix and the suction process had begun, she began to experience excruciating pain. When she ask the doctor to stop, he said, " We can't stop now" and ordered three employees to hold the woman down during the procedure. After the woman had passed out and lost up to 80% of her blood, she was taken by fire and rescue to the hospital where a life-saving surgery was performed. A doctor at the hospital said in a sworn statement that in his opinion, she would have died had she not been rushed to the hospital.

While the Lincoln Journal Star did report the story (click here to read article), it seems to me that they, once again, went the extra mile to raise questions about Jefferson Downing, the attorney who filed suit on behalf of the woman, while down-playing or ignoring the physician who performed the abortion and his not-so-reputable history.

In the article, they took effort to describe, in some detail, Mr. Downing's pro-life position and pro-life activities. However, in mentioning the abortionist, Meryl Severson, they reported that he had "resigned" from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2001, then joined Planned Parenthood. In fact, Severson was fired from the University Medical center for the ethics violations related to an unauthorized abortion.

It seems to be a reach to compare the beliefs of the lawyer as a possible conflict while failing to recognize the professional failure on the part of a doctor who nearly killed a woman.

But then again, who said the news would be fair?

My advice?

Support your local Crises Pregnancy Centers or their equivalent and keep an eye on the media.

God bless you.
