Gay Activists Threaten "Bigots"

Lars Larson, talk show host and friend to Christians and conservatives across Oregon and Southern Washington, made public this last week, a plan to "expose bigots" who have signed so-called anti gay petitions.

That, of course, would be all those folks who signed petitions in opposition to two laws recently passed and signed by Oregon Governor Kulongoski. They are Oregon SB 2 and Oregon HB 2007, the anti-discrimination and same-sex civil unions law.

Lars, from his flagship station KXL in Portland and the 30-station northwest network, directed listeners to the threat that was published in The Portland Mercury publication.

The threat is both alarming and disengeneous.

You will note that the piece,"Know Thy Homophobic Neighbor", directs a very stern warning to all who oppose the gay agenda by saying, "So bigots, this is your warning: " Then trys to soften it a little by saying that, yes, they are trying to expose bigots, but they are also trying to help stop petition fraud.

Yeah, right.

This, I believe, constitutes intended intimidation of citizens who are simply participating in the legislative process by expressing their personally held convictions.

Take a moment and read the piece.

What do you think?

Know Thy Homophobic Neighbor

I’m thinking of volunteering:

A while back, a few people from Massachusetts decided to expose the bigots who signed their anti-gay petitions. They paired with tens of volunteers and did a good amount of data entry and published the names and addresses of those who signed the anti-gay petitions in their state. I am proud to announce that this same concept will be coming to Oregon this year. There are two reasons behind it. One is to expose the bigots, the other is to help stop petition fraud…

So bigots, this is your warning: When you sign the petitions to overturn basic fairness for other Oregonians, your name and address becomes public information-and in turn it will go on a website dedicated to exposing those in Oregon who signed and participated in this vile attempt to destroy families.

The Gay Rights Watch blog has more details. And stay tuned to http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/

, where the names will be listed.
