I Agree with the Pope

Although I am not a Catholic, I took time this past week to read a portion of Pope Benedict XVI Good Friday’s prayer.

He said, “We have lost our sense of sin! Today a slick campaign of propaganda is spreading an inure apologia of evil, a senseless cult of Satan, a mindless desire for transgression, a dishonest and frivolous freedom, exalting impulsiveness, immorality and selfishness as if they were new heights of sophistication. Surely God is deeply pained by the attack on the family. Today we seem to be witnessing a kind of anti-Genesis, a counter plan, a diabolical pride aimed at eliminating the family. There is a move to reinvent mankind, to modify the very grammar of life as planned and willed by God. But to take God’s place, without being God, is insane arrogance, a risky and dangerous venture.”

Risky and dangerous indeed.

To stand with the pope's comments is to claim bigotry and hate because of homophobia. You are also standing then with Fred Phelps at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and claiming they were killed because of God's wrath on America.

Step out of the middle ages, homosexuality is not about "impulsiveness, immorality or selfishness". Medical illness isn't because a demon has entered the body. Homosexuality isn't a choice.

There is no attack on the family, only a desire for their to be more stable families in society for the protection of children and society's members.

To claim to speak for God or what he is feeling "Surely God is deeply pained..." is risky and dangerous indeed.

Even countries predominantly Catholic, like Spain, don't believe this kind of gay bashing.

To stand up for these comments is to say that you approve and recommend that people participate in gay bashing.

Also out today are studies:
* Three-quarters of students surveyed across America said that over the past year they heard derogatory remarks such as "faggot" or "dyke" frequently or often at school, and nearly nine out of ten reported hearing "that's so gay" or "you're so gay" - meaning stupid or worthless - frequently or often.

* Over a third of students said they experienced physical harassment at school on the basis of sexual orientation

* Nearly one-in-five students reported they had been physically assaulted because of their sexual orientation

Dispite your own opinions on homosexuality, it is wrong to abuse others (verbally or physically) that don't share your opinion.

Shame on you, Gary. You could do so much better.

Is it really so difficult to understand that we are in the end days? Sigh..........

So I don't need to pay the phone bill?

If the christian church losing its way and persecuting it's own followers is a sign, then I guess it might be.

Is it so difficult to understand that someone every year for the last 2000 or so has said that we are in the end days?

Oops, I forgot. Fear is a weapon some churches use to enforce control.

Man you guys got to get a life . Your statistics are flawed for one thing , your perverted thinking is illogical . On one hand you claim people are being persecuted and are in trouble , then you use insults and ad homiem attacks after stating how terrible it is to say "your so gay" to try for people to feel compassion for your cause ? If its so wrong , its kind of perverted to use that method yourself is it not ?
Sex out of the confines of marriage is what people teach to their children , because you "feel" persecuted does not ever make that
teaching irrevelent or without merit . Its the best and only way of preventing a multiple of health risks , and interesting its also compatible with what many consider to be Bibical Truth . So why would anyone bash the Bible if it was protecting people.

Research from the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) found that 84% of LGBT students report being verbally harassed because of their sexual orientation.2 However, the National Center for Education Statistics found that only 1% to 2% of students aged 12-18 had been called a derogatory word related to their religion, disability, or sexual orientation.3 More research needs to be done on this issue, but no matter what the numbers say, we know that the use of anti-gay slurs at school is a problem.

I am thankful for our President and the moral and religious values that are so much a part of his life. I feel that God has temporarioy spared His wrath on America because of His godly leadership and his conscious effort to do what is right for this nation,
