Faith and Freedom Network: Religious Leaders vs. Founding Fathers

Religious Leaders vs. Founding Fathers

Most of the major newspapers are running a story this weekend which carries the headline: Religious Leaders Fault Evangelical Rally ... or something close to that.

The newspapers are, of course, pointing out that not everyone thinks the nationally televised Justice Sunday II rally held in Nashville this Sunday, is a good idea.

In quoting the few nay-saying religious leaders, the newspapers are actually pointing out an even more telling fact. Those religious leaders and others who desperately try to consumately separate the church from the state are not only out of step with most people faith, but also with the guys who started this country, our Founding Fathers.

Reverend C. Welton Gaddy, President of Interfaith Alliance is quoted, "Those in public office must never make religion the lens through which Constitutional matters are decided."

Yet the Constitution was written in the context of a Christian consensus among those who drafted and approved it. How else could it be truly understood?

Patrick Henry said, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here."

Daniel Webster said, "Let us not forget the religious character of our origin. Our Father's were brought here by their high veneration for the Christian religion. They ought to incorporate its principles with elements of their society, and to diffuse its influence through all their institutions, civil, political, or literary."

So, the message of the secularists must be, "Now that we have become a great nation, let us quickly abandon those things that made us great."

I can predict that these same newspapers will, by Sunday afternoon, criticize Tom DeLay for being one of the speakers. But then why should we care what the newspapers say? Thomas Jefferson didn't. He said, "The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers."

Enjoy the "questionable" rally this weekend. I think the Founding Fathers would be smiling.

As a descendent of a Revolutionary War soldier, who was/is to me my hero, and the reason why I feel a longing to rekindle the facts for some people. First, for those who mock and condemn President George W. Bush, especially about the Iraqi's Costitution. Let me think; my 5th grandfather fought along side Washington. He denied a pension, yet took/garnered some land from the government. History tells us quite clearly; if we are taught the TRUTH, that first and foremost a Constitution can not be made in a few day. weeks. months. or years. Blood was spilled in this great land, as it evidently is being spilled in Iraq. That there are people in that area who fight against tyranny, is not unlike what our country was founded upon.I was taught that all the "founders" were slave owners , or participants in the slave trade. This was lies. I believe that history does not lie; it only repeats itself, and if we as the generations that can trace our ancestors to those who fought as heroes, with no clothes, no shoes, and no rights, we are Americans, and we know yet still they fought. I am an ancestor of Nicholas A. Arnold, I am not related to Benedict, even so it does not matter. As I am older now and I know the true history of this country. I have biracial children; yet they are taught to hate me and my ancestors, when there is no excuse for this type of teaching, or thinking. I attend a college that is now a partner with a Benedictine University. I was told I would have to take a class in a cultural type class, yes it was about the Arabs. yet, I married an Arab, and divorced him, and I am quite able to distinguish between the truth and deception. My youngest children are half african-american, lets be honest they are half BLACk; does this offend? Hmmmmmm. I have been called a racist, and other things, because some african americans think and are taught they were taken by the white man, when in all actuallity, their own kings/ queens/tribal leaders sold them to the Portuguse and etc.etc... I was glad to know that I didn't have to take this course in understanding the Arab world/culture/ etc...as I had taken the class in African-American History. What is really sad is that the blacks, african-americans are not any longer offered this course at the college, not that they ever took it, only white people took it at my alma mater. This is why they surely cancelled the class. Now we must conquer the "truths" of the Arab/islamic culture. My college/university no longer has the African american history class, yet they bow down to teaching mandatory classes on Arab culture, and God knows what. When I took the class on African-American histroy I as a poor white girl with red hair and freckles realized; I am not a spook. I was beat up, jumped and spent my time as a elementary student with all black class mates. Later whn I met the father of my children, he said" I was the only black in my classes at the school I was bussed to", and I told him, "so, i was the only white in the school I went to". Am I supposed to feel sorry for myself, or him? No I accept this as a cultural advantage. If I end up teaching, and I have a student who wants to play the "race card" I can say. my children are biracial, and they are not any different from you or myself. I am so sick of hearing pity parties from people who never worked a day in their lives. I learnt to teach my bi-racial children one important fact, I am descended from a family who had slaves, I also desecend from a family who descended from a man who fought as a hero in the REvolutionary War, and he and his father were white and were in debt in England, and came to our country as indentured servants. So much is taught to children, much that is actual lies. I know many history teachers tell the truth, yet the child/adolescent still believes that the "white man" has it in for them. I am NOT prejudiced, how could I be, my children are biracial? Some could say I still am, yet I want the truth to be taught to all children, the constitution of this country only came about by many men and even women dying in agony, yet brave until the end. They had hope and pride for the unconquered land we know live in. To expect the white man to pay reparations to the blacks is outrageous, as my grandfather fought along side the black man,for freedom. My children I tell them expect no special favours, lest you bow to madness. If anyone needs reparations it is the true first people, the many myriad nations of the Indians. If one reads the true history, these true men and women acquiesced and were used by the white man, lest the blacks/african-americans find themselves feeling sorry for themselves. then this is because they have no real truth to their history. Their own kind sold them, they came to do tremendous work; not unlike the Chinese who built the railroad systems, yet were denied the "party" and the cutting of the ribbon, when they had done all the work. I believe in one God, but I believe in the HOLY 3, and I believe all mankind have been used. abused, and dominated at one time or another. lest one brag, or demand something because of the "history" they are taught, let them be humble and shut up; as I tell my children, you are welsh. german. english, and african-american. That word is a misnomer, my daughter knows her father is not a "african -american" he never has left the city he lives in.He is an American, as we all are, a myriad collection of a "tossed salad", a country under siege, and the seizure is the ignorance of those who tell outright lies in history clasess to impressionable students. None can be called innocent, none can say they are "owed" something, and if they do they are not true Americans, a citizen of the United States Of America. When my daughter goes to college I told her she would have more chances to be catered to, yet she must earn that, and yet, I was wrong, we are all Gods' children, yet still this country fusses and fights over color. The new generation of high schoolers are diverse. I find this refreshing. yet, when I am told by my daughter that this sin and that sin, is encouraged and promoted in the public and parochial schools, I fear a dread that tears my heart to shreds, my children, the descendants of a man who fought along w/ the Red man, black man, and the white man, lived through the Revolutionary War, and he was white, an indentured servant and earned his freedom, lest anyone place blame or want a "pity party" I have no time for your drama. My Lord, my God told me to live "in the day", therefore let us remember the past, but not repeat it.I am colored blind, and I am history loving, lest one try to try upon my intelligence. Pity goes no where, action in Gods love through Christ Jesus our Lord, is the only way to be HUMBLE, "lest any man/woman brag". Learn from the past, but do not repeat it.
